May 29, 2009

This is how Allie felt at the end of our visit to the zoo today- hot, tired, and ready to leave.  I think we all felt that way.  We are glad we got to enjoy the fun, free day at the zoo but have decided that we will not visit again until the winter.

Almost everyday after dinner, we go back out to the backyard.  Sometimes in clothes, sometimes, in pajamas, and sometimes we go back out in our swimsuits.  And we play.  mainly because the girls seem to fight less out there than inside.  And they entertain themselves better.  And there is no tv out there.  It is a nice end to our day.

May 26, 2009

One of my friends organized a craft exchange.  Here is my box filled with 12 different crafts for my girls to do this summer.  I can't wait to start.

May 27, 2009

I love this ledge.  It is next to the door leading to the garage.  When standing on it, Allie fits perfectly on it.  She loves to watch people come and go from this place.  And is often found there.

May 25, 2009

Just playing with the quiet book.

May 24, 2009

I like to buy clothes at the end of the season for the next year.  Laney found the bag where those clothes were stored and decided it was time to start wearing them.  Mind you, it is 100 degrees but she insisted.  I have moved the bag and this outfit high in the closet until next fall.

Today was the 5th Annual Jaydie Lynn King Foundation block party.  As treasurer of the foundation, I spent most of the evening at this table, greeting people and collecting money.  I was able to enjoy some good food, watch my girls play a bit, and win a raffle for teeth whitening.  Thanks to good planning and generous people, the event was a huge success.

Happy 31st Erich!

And that cake was very delicious if I do say so myself.

May 21, 2009

This is weird weather for Arizona in May but we enjoyed it nonetheless.

May 20, 2009

Tonight we folded, stuffed, and addressed wedding invites.  And we watched Kris Allen win American Idol.

May 19, 2009

This is a glimpse of what Laney calls picnic.  She collects some cans in some sort of container, carries them around, finds the perfect location, sits down and serves the "food", collects the food, and finds a new location.

May 18, 2009

Laney quickly attaches herself to anyone who gives her some love and attention.  Lucky for her, John and Stephanie adore her and spoil her.

May 17, 2009

Laney was happy to have her daddy back.  She snuggled up with daddy and then fell asleep.

May 16, 2009

Erich has been gone for a few days and mom, John, and Stephanie are gone for the weekend.  I knew we had to get out and do something to keep us all sane.  So we ventured to Desert Ridge for some time in the fountains and a little Paradise Bakery.  The girls loved it- mainly the cookies.

May 15, 2009

Today it was reaffirmed to me that Laney and Allie are really me.  They both had bowls of Lucky Charms in which after they had picked out the marshmallows, they asked for more cereal.  As if they couldn't even see the rest of that cereal in there.

One day when they are a little older, I will teach them how to carefully eat all of that extra junk and save the marshmallows for the very end.  Then they will catch a little glimpse of heaven.

May 14, 2009

Laney helped me mix some flavors this morning. And then she decided it was her job to make sure she licked up every speck of sugar that I spilled.

May 13, 2009

Allie decided today that she is big.  That she no longer needs to sit in her chair.  That she is ready for the stools like Laney.  That it doesn't matter if her chin barely reaches the countertop.  But that she is big and old and very mature.

May 12, 2009

For 10 minutes today, this is what the girls did.  Fill the bucket and then pour it on their head.  Repeat.

May 11, 2009

After playing in the front yard, Laney was happy to see Grandpa come home so that she could have a ride in the car up the driveway.  And she was really happy to be able to play in his car afterwards.

May 10, 2009

Happy Mother's day.  I feel lucky to be a mom and especially to these two girls.  I don't always feel so adequate but always blessed.

May 9, 2009

Is my child really small enough that she can use a Little Tike flatbed as a ride-on toy?

May 8, 2009

Alli discovered the trains.  And was content for a long time.

As long as Laney didn't want to play with them as well.

May 7, 2009

Playing in the fountains at Kierland.

May 6, 2009

Laney enjoying an Oreo truffle on my birthday.  She seems to like them as much as I do.  Today also marks the return of John and Stephanie from BYU.

May 5, 2009

7:26 and both my kids are asleep for the night.  It is a good night.  (Even if it is a bad picture.)

May 4, 2009

Erich has always said that Laney was going to be a tom-boy and love race cars.  I have always loathed the thought of it.  And days like this make me really think he might be right.  Is it too early to sign her up for ballet classes?

May 3, 2009

Because of battery problems and ill-behaved kids this is the only shot I got of the girls with their Grandma and Grandpa.  They were in town for a wedding and the girls enjoyed getting to play with them for a few days.

May 2, 2009

On my grocery list for today, Oreos for the Oreo truffles I am requesting for my birthday next week.

May 1, 2009

I am pretty sure a lot of people would say this makes me a bad mom.  But I am okay with that.  Laney has a small obsession with apples.  But she doesn't like to eat a lot at a time.  Usually just a bite or two.  Then she sticks it back in the fridge for a little bit.  And this continues over and over and over.  It's okay that it gets a little brown.

April 30, 2009

One of the girls very favorite things to do is play in Laney's bed. There is usually some jumping and laughing. And always some laying down with the blankies. And on a good day, some fake snoring is also involved.

April 29, 2009

I could take a very similar picture almost every day.

April 28, 2009

Could it get any better than this?

April 27, 2009

Someone woke up on the wrong side of the wrong side of the bed. And with her shirt strangely wrapped around her arm.

April 26, 2009

No nap and a little tv make for a very sleepy Laney.

April 25, 2009

I ran an errand. Erich took a shower. Laney found some scissors. And now her dress is a little edgier.

April 24, 2009

Laney loves her grandma. When I leave for work, she says, "I stay and play with grandma." And usually she wants to be doing exactly what grandma is doing. Even if it mean a little ironing and quilting like tonight.

April 23, 2009

Pure bliss.

April 22, 2009

Bad picture I know. But it says so much to me. Laney loves to stand on her bed, look at herself in the mirror, and sing "My name is Laney. I like to dance," all while showing off her sweet moves.

April 21, 2009

Laney is three. But if you ask her, she is still two. Or maybe 4. And the tricycle in the background is her gift. And it has caused a lot of sibling rivalry. I am pretty sure I know what Allie is getting for her 2nd birthday in October.

April 20, 2009

Summer has begun in Phoenix.

April 19, 2009

I obviously still need to teach Laney some basic fashion rules- like no socks with sandals.
